About The Dawson Group

Clark, Hazel, Charlotte, Whitworth, Ashley, Emily (niece) & Anniston Beecher

If you’re familiar with Seaside, FL then you’re familiar with Pickle’s, The Shrimp Shack, Wild Bill’s Beach Dogs, Dawson’s Yogurt and Fudge and It’s Heavenly.

After 32 years in business, Seaside, FL residents Bill and Heavenly Dawson sold their beloved restaurants in December 2020 to Ashley and Clark Beecher from Houston, Texas.

When the pandemic of 2020 broke out, the Beechers moved their 4 kids— Charlotte, Anniston, Hazel & Whitworth— and a handful of dogs to their home in Seaside, FL with the intention to stay for a few days. A few days turned into a few months, and their home turned into a school, with biking down to the beach for recess.

With the pandemic leaving many local businesses at risk of closing down, the Beechers knew they wanted to help support the community they had grown to love over the years. When the opportunity to purchase The Dawson Group came up, they knew it was the right choice for their family and the local area. As of January 2025 The Beecher’s acquired 3 more iconic locations on the West Side of 30A from previous owner Jim Richard; Stinky’s Fish Camp, Stinky’s Bait Shack & Red Fish Taco. With their awesome team they look forward to bringing these locations the same growth & innovation as the locations in Seaside over the last 5 years.

Baron and Courtney Fields

The Beechers partnered with Courtney and Baron Fields, who are the boots-on-the-ground Operating Partners.

Courtney and Baron bring more than a decade of hospitality industry experience, both with a background working with Pappas Restaurants Inc. in Houston, Texas. The Fields duo would be delighted for you to say hello on your next visit to town!

Together, with their team they have brought growth and new innovation to these five iconic Seaside, FL eateries, as well as the 3 newest concepts on the West Side of 30A - Stinky’s Fish Camp, Stinky’s Bait Shack & Red Fish Taco, while still maintaining the charm that made them popular spots to begin with.

We are so excited to have acquired THREE more notable South Walton establishments, including Stinky’s Fish Camp, Stinky’s Bait Shack, and Red Fish Taco, from longtime local, Jim Richard of Word of Mouth Restaurant Group.

Owned by Clark and Ashley Beecher, The Dawson Group is known for their various historical establishments in Seaside including Dawson’s Yogurt & Fudge, It’s Heavenly Shortcakes and Ice Cream, Pickle’s, The Shrimp Shack, and Wild Bill’s Beach Dogs. In the past two years, they have also added Pickle’s Sandbar and The Shrimp Shack Boardwalk Bar to the growing boardwalk on the south side of 30A.

The Beechers, along with their operating partners Baron and Courtney Fields, plan to continue the many, long-standing traditions of each of Richard’s beloved establishments which include live music, philanthropic efforts, and special menu offerings while elevating each entity with innovative systems, modern concepts, merchandise, and much more.
